The BIO3 app is owned and operated by the MHBLD Lab at Dartmouth College.

About this app:

BIO3 is a mindfulness tracking app used as part of a Dartmouth College course. All students enrolled in the course use the app as part of their coursework. A subset of students may additionally choose to opt in to having their data used for academic research purposes.

Personal information we collect:

  • Name, email address, and Dartmouth NetID

  • Daily meditation logs including duration, quality ratings, and stress levels

  • Group practice participation records

  • Weekly screen time data and optional screenshots you choose to submit

How your data is used:

For all students: Data is used solely to support course activities including the leaderboard, group practice tracking, and personal progress.

For research participants only: Students who separately opt in may have their anonymized data used for academic research and publications by the MHBLD Lab at Dartmouth College.

Data storage and security:

Your data is stored securely on encrypted servers accessible only to authorized MHBLD Lab researchers and course instructors at Dartmouth College.

Data sharing:

We do not sell or share your personal data with any third parties. Research data is only used in anonymized, aggregate form for academic publications.

Withdrawal:

You may stop using the app at any time. Research participants may withdraw their data from the study at any time by contacting us without affecting their course participation.
